Friday is fry day

Our Lady Queen of Angels will host their monthly fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Kilgore College Demonstration Farm.

Books of the season

      Featuring favorite books of the Christmas season, the next Book Talk is set noon on Tuesday at the McMillan Memorial Library in Overton.

      Whoever attends will have the opportunity to give a brief description of his or her favorite Christmas or holiday book, but is not required to participate.  Also, a light, “no host” lunch will be served, so those attending are encouraged to bring a few cookies, sandwiches or their choice of snacks.

Candle lighting

      The 2010 worldwide candle lighting sponsored by The Compassionate Friends of Tyler is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, at Crossroads Community Church, 13730 Hwy 155 South. The event is set annually in memory of all children who have died.  Candles are provided. Tree of Angels

      A Tree of Angels is slated for 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Rusk County Courthouse in Henderson to honor those who were victims or are survivors of a violent crime. The annual event is sponsored by Victims & Survivors Against Violent Crimes. Those attending may bring an ornament to place on the Tree of Angels. Tags will be provided so that those attending can label the ornament with a loved one’s (or their own) name prior to the ceremony. Extra ornaments will also be available.

      The public is welcome, but especially families and friends of victims and survivors of a violent crime or those with a missing loved one are encouraged to attend. A reception will immediately follow.

bariatric patients

      TYLER — The Trinity Mother Frances Bariatric Support Group — for those who have undergone, will undergo or are acquainted with those who have had bariatric weight loss surgery — meets at 6 p.m. the second Monday of each month at Mother Frances Hospital’s Haddad Hall, located at 800 E. Dawson.
