Funeral services for Gary Conrad Barrett, 53, of White Oak will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2011 in the Chapel at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Mr. Marty Strait and Mr. Randy Penney officiating. Burial will follow in the Overton City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Gary passed away Wednesday in White Oak.
Gary was born in Nacogdoches, Texas, on July 10, 1957 to Conrad and Sue Barrett. He graduated from Overton High School in 1975. After graduation, Gary moved to Dallas to continue his education at Control Data and working in the silicon wafer industry. Gary then founded International Silicon Solutions. I.S.S., an ISO 9000 company, became a leader in the silicon wafer reclaim industry being nominated multiple times as vendor of the year for companies like Texas Instruments and Motorola. Gary and his employee Fred Streeter, Ph.D. and Texas Instruments co-authored and patented a paper on the process of a unique recycling/reclamation method of reclaim for the silicon industry that changed the standards of the process. During his 30 years of living in Dallas, Gary was awarded the Dallas Police departments “Citizen of the Year” award for his life saving efforts of a female assault victim.
Gary was preceded in death by his father, Conrad Barrett. He is survived by his mother, Sue Penney Barrett of Kilgore; sisters, Sonya Headley and Sarah Barrett of White Oak; brother, David Barrett and wife Geri of Liberty City; nephews, Chase Headley and wife Sonia of Dallas and Spencer Barrett of Liberty City; nieces, Chelsea and Cassie Headley and Carson Barrett all of Liberty City: numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and a very special member of the family, Ollie Mae Wilson of Overton.
