Services for Jessie D. Farmer, 76, New London, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, chapel, Overton with Rev. Ken Hayman officiating. Graveside services with military honors are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, at the Line Creek Cemetery, near Ida, La.
Mr. Farmer died Monday, Feb. 7, 2011, at his residence following a sudden illness.
He was born Feb. 10, 1934, in Rodessa, La., to the late Jesse D. and Ada Keel Farmer and had been a resident of New London since 1969.
Mr. Farmer was an Army veteran serving from 1955 until 1964 as a military teletype operator. He retired from Trane Inc., Tyler following 32 years of service from 1964 until 1996.
He was a Past Worshipful Master at the Rocky Mount Masonic Lodge, #63, Overton and was also a Past Patron of the Order Of The Eastern Star, Chapter #597, Henderson. He was a member of the London Baptist Church.
He married Betty R. Evers on Dec. 31, 1957 in Linden.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 53 years, Betty Evers Farmer, New London; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Eric Arnold, Overton; a grandson, Justin Arnold, and a granddaughter, Kerry Arnold, both of Overton; a brother-in-law, Max Evers, Lufkin; a sister-in-law, Junie Farmer, Ida, La.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 tonight at the funeral home.
